Demographics accumulate data of the population in a certain geographic area. the advantages when using demographics effectively it can enable a company to highlight certain products to a certain section of customers in a specific demographic. E.G Companies will segment the market using; Lifestyle, Location, Age, Sex or Socio-Economic factors. to boost sales revenue and in turn profit by creating products around a certain customers needs which fit the demographics.







Warner Bros products have a variety of audience demographics, from big mainstream markets to small niche markets. every company has a specific customer they target their service/product at also they are able to segment in to small sub markets to offer a wider variety of products for the mass market.

They need to choose what target market is likely the to watch the movie and this will attract more buyers. understanding there audience demographic is very important when marketing and advertising the movie and also thorough research in to the market both primary and secondary needs to occur for such a big business like Warner Bros so they know they are going to produce movies that customers will like.

There's a variety of demographics that are categorised using quantifiable factors these can include age, gender, class, race and lifestyle.

The Harry Potter series has gathered a large following over the years. This is because it appeals to all of the demographic no matter age,sex,nationality . the most predominant reason is that it's a saga,

the Harry Potter series has built a strong audience bond it is such a strong bond because as the new books are published, the customers know the next movie is going to be made and this pleases the fans . after the first movie was mad, the customers who watched it and enjoyed it are very likely to follow the series and watch every film and every book released.

When The philosopher stone was made, the film might have been targeted at a smaller niche market, targeted at those interested in fantasy and wizardry books but after a big advertising campaign five star reviews the Harry Potter films began to amass huge popularity and the total audience demographic increased vastly

JK Rowling at the begging did't plan on writing a book for children, although when harry potter came to her she thought the idea was to good to turn down so she went on to create the children books series. when the book was initially published the demographic who was interested were younger .
the major demographic of the Harry Potter saga are 18-34 year old because of the come-of-age story, Harry Potter has stolen the interest of wide age demographic, varying from young children all he way to there grandparents. Those who read the Harry Potter books at early teens will have grown up following harry at the age he as when they were released,
Therefore, it's obvious that the demographic for the Harry Potter movies are extremely varied, and even though originally a child favourite, it has grown to be an extreme mass market franchise.

The Harry Potter movies are not gender specific so statistics on the amount of men or women who went to the cinema to watch one of the Harry Potter movies could not be found but in the movie there is a few more male actors who play main roles then  females this might just be coincidence though although i would say that the harry potter films are unisex.

Lifestyle











there are variety of ways Harry Potter films could have been advertised such as the lifestyle and interests of the audience and book. The harry potter books and films are all from the fantasy genre, so Harry Potter will appeal more to people with major interests in magic, wizardry and of course the Harry Potter books. As well as this, the general cinema and film enthusiastic may find this appealing. Having a dedication or interest to visiting a cinema regularly to see the latest films could result in people watching Harry Potter. There will always be a great hype and lots of press with regards to the Harry Potter films, and therefore throughout the series, the films may appeal to someone simply who is keen in the film industry or simply watching movies.

Spending Power











spending/purchasing is the power customers have such as they have the choice of wether to buy the harry potter movies. Purchasing power is vital as all else being equal, inflation decreases the amount of goods or services you'd be able to purchase.'

The spending power is the number of goods that a customer can purchase with an single unit of a currency. bringing this back to warner brothers the spending power of the philosopher stone, when watching the film in a cinema prices will be relatively average across the country. This also includes buying DVDs as well.because the age demographic of the harry potter movie is 18-34, the consumers for the harry potter movie will normally have a large enough disposable income to buy an movie ticket and DVD.the young harry potter viewers will have limited spending power and its the parents choice whether the young consumers watch the film. The Harry potter sereas has a massive impact on many viewers.

The stunning and interesting writing and storyline made by JK Rowling teaches the  minds of millions the story and characters also keep the viewer enticed and enthralled for all the new stories about Harry Potter she brings out.as the majority of viewers will age along with the saga and will have loved the books and marketed the the book by using word and mouth There is a massive demographic fan base for the Harry Potter saga because of the exciting events and elaborate story lines that they entail. The first book was published in 39 different countries but the films were released to over 100 different countries worldwide.
